FMS Welfare Trust: Digging Hope, One Bore Well at a Time
Water is life—yet for millions across rural and underserved regions of India, clean and safe drinking water remains a distant dream. Women and children walk for miles daily to fetch water from contaminated ponds or distant sources. During summer, the crisis becomes even more severe, and families are left helpless as handpumps run dry and government supply is insufficient.
Understanding the urgency of this crisis, FMS Welfare Trust launched the Bore Well Project—a life-changing initiative to dig bore wells in water-scarce villages and communities, providing easy access to clean, drinkable water for hundreds of families.
The Need for Bore Wells in India
In many parts of India, especially in rural and semi-urban areas, the water crisis is not just a seasonal challenge—it’s a year-round struggle. Poor infrastructure, declining groundwater levels, and lack of proper water management have left countless communities without access to safe drinking water.
This disproportionately affects:
-
Women and children, who are tasked with fetching water
-
Elderly individuals with limited mobility
-
Students, who miss school due to water-fetching responsibilities
-
Farmers and daily-wage workers, whose livelihoods depend on water availability
The consequences include health issues like water-borne diseases, school dropouts, and loss of dignity and time.
Our Solution: Sustainable Access to Water
FMS Welfare Trust’s Bore Well Project provides a practical, sustainable, and deeply impactful solution. By drilling deep bore wells equipped with hand pumps or electric pumps, we ensure that communities can access groundwater safely and conveniently.
Each bore well:
-
Serves 50–100 families on average
-
Reduces time spent on fetching water
-
Minimises dependence on rainwater or tanker supply
-
Improves hygiene, health, and agricultural productivity
We choose well locations after community assessments and water testing to ensure longevity and usability. We also involve local volunteers in maintenance and upkeep, creating a sense of ownership and responsibility.
Changing Lives, One Well at a Time
Since the inception of the project, FMS Welfare Trust has installed dozens of bore wells in remote and underprivileged areas of Telangana and surrounding regions. The joy and relief seen in the faces of children and elderly who now have water at their doorstep are beyond words.
One grateful beneficiary said:
“We used to wake up at 4 am to walk to the river. Now, water is just a few steps away. It has changed our lives.”
How You Can Help
Each bore well costs between INR 35,000 to 50,000, depending on the depth, pump type, and location. You can make a difference by:
-
Sponsoring a complete bore well
-
Donating partially towards the cost
-
Installing a bore well in memory of a loved one (Sadaqah Jariyah)
-
Spreading the word and encouraging others to contribute
